The dichotomy between love being perceived as good and politics as bad is a sentiment often echoed among people. However, it’s worth noting that honest politics, especially in a democracy, is regarded as a ‘civic religion,’ centered around the well-being of humanity. Politics grounded in humanity and the betterment of society is considered a moral duty.
Conversely, even within toxic love dynamics, there’s often a sense of ownership disguised as compassion. This paradoxical conflict of good and evil bears similarities to the concept of patriotism. However, when political parties prioritize the interests of their homeland over the collective well-being of all people, it can lead to a reduction of democracy into populism. Ultimately, the question arises: Does this form of nationalist politics ultimately serve our interests or become detrimental to us as a society?
As Speaker Philosopher Arindam Chakraborty will offer profound insights and philosophical perspectives on the matter.
Swati Bhattacharya will bring the discussion to a close.
